Role Overview

Tamarindo Group is looking for a part-time Finance Assistant, working 25 hours per week (pattern to the confirmed), who will assist our Finance & Operations Manager, in the management and processing of key finance and account functions.

As our Finance Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for handling the daily accounts function for the business and the overall delivery of daily finance duties with support from the Finance & Operations Manager.

The right candidate will be a detail focused, highly organized individual who is looking to join a fast-growing group of companies. The role of Finance Assistant would suit someone who will have at least two years of administration and book-keeping experience, who balances an eye for detail against the ability to think for themselves. A good working understanding of Xero, the accounting software is preferred, although someone who can pick up new accounting software quickly will also be considered.

This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, exceptional levels of organization and strong attention to detail.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Raising, issuing and chasing all invoices, ensuring prompt invoice payment for both Tamarindo Communications Limited and A Word About Wind Limited
  • Processing supplier invoices and resolve supplier queries for both Tamarindo Communications Limited and A Word About Wind Limited.
  • Processing bank transaction and reconciliation bank/credit card statements for both Tamarindo Communications and A Word About Wind Limited
  • Collating, managing and tracking all employee and client expenses, re-billing to clients where applicable and required (all managed and tracked via Xero)
  • Developing financial management mechanisms that minimise financial risk and increase the existing levels (and limits) of existing financial forecasting
  • Supporting the Finance & Operations Manager in the production of accurate monthly financial reports for both businesses, for the Senior Management Team
  • Managing Xero, our financial accounting, monitoring and reporting system
  • Taking responsibility for the administration of company payroll, submitting VAT returns and liaising with HMRC and the banks, when needed
  • Working and liaising directly with our accountants on any wider financial and company accounts related matters
  • Providing assistance to the Finance & Operations Manager with office admin, HR and IT support services, to ensure the smooth running of the office it in budget

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Preferably a few years’ experience working in a finance capacity
  • Proficiency in Xero preferable, though other software experience considered
  • Proficiency in use of MS Excel
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, technical, IT and numerical abilities
  • Used to working with a minimum of supervision to agreed deadlines
  • Highly methodical and organized candidate with excellent attention to detail
  • Motivated, enthusiastic and professional in approach and demeanour
  • A self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative in a busy environment
  • Discreet and mindful of handling sensitive personal and company information
  • Strong written and spoken English
  • Ideally AAT part/qualified or qualified by experience

Remuneration and benefits

At The Tamarindo Group we offer a competitive salary, 25 days pro rata annual leave and a good work life balance. Office hours are 9.00 until 5.30, Monday to Friday. We offer access and contributions to a good pension scheme with immediate effect.
